However, the highlight of their discussion revolved around a highly anticipated matchup that fans are eager to see unfold this year.

“Of course, everyone is eager to see McGregor back in action,” Pimblett agreed. Aspinall chimed in, echoing Pimblett’s sentiments, indicating he would also like to see that match happen.
Speaking of Michael Chandler, there's been ongoing speculation about a matchup between him and Conor McGregor ever since they worked together on The Ultimate Fighter in 2023. Initially, this fight was slated to headline UFC 303 in June 2024, but McGregor had to withdraw due to a toe injury sustained during training. Since then, Chandler has faced setbacks, including losses to Charles Oliveira and Paddy Pimblett.
Meanwhile, McGregor has found himself in hot water, receiving an 18-month suspension from the UFC for failing to provide accurate whereabouts information to anti-doping officials multiple times. Despite these challenges, there's optimism that the long-awaited bout between McGregor and Chandler could finally take place in 2026.
With McGregor’s suspension being backdated, he will be eligible to return to the octagon on March 20, just ahead of his anticipated comeback for the UFC White House card on June 14. While there are no official confirmations yet, Chandler seems more confident than ever about facing McGregor. During a New Year’s Eve celebration broadcasted by CBS, he hinted at a potential showdown, saying, "There’s a rumor going around...but it does sound like I might be handing Conor McGregor a good old-fashioned, passionate red, white, and blue butt whooping on the south lawn of the White House sometime this summer. That’s the plan. Let’s go."
