On January 17th, Accelerize, a four-year-old colt with a promising future, stepped onto the track at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. This was a big day for Accelerize and his connections, as it marked several significant milestones: his seasonal debut, stakes debut, and the longest race of his career.
Despite the challenges, Accelerize showed his mettle. He seized the lead early on, maintaining an inside position. The race was fast-paced, but Accelerize proved his worth when faced with a tough challenge from the favorite, Just a Touch. In a thrilling finish, Accelerize powered ahead, winning by a neck in the 1 1/16-mile test for older horses.
Flavien Prat guided Accelerize through the race, completing a quarter-mile in an impressive :23.93 and a half-mile in :47.14. Just a Touch, a grade 1-placed son of Justify, put up a good fight but ultimately couldn't match Accelerize's determination.
And here's where it gets controversial... Accelerize's victory denied trainer Brad Cox his sixth win in the Louisiana Stakes since 2019. Todd Pletcher, Accelerize's trainer, celebrated his first win in this prestigious race.

Medoro, a grade 3 winner from Southern California, shipped to New Orleans and continued her winning streak in the Marie G. Krantz Memorial Stakes. The five-year-old daughter of Honor Code showed her class by rallying from fifth to win by three-quarters of a length.
Usually Wrong, a stakes sprinter with a unique name, started 2026 with a bang! This five-year-old son of Lookin At Lucky set a new course record in the Duncan F. Kenner Stakes, winning by an impressive 2 3/4 lengths.
